Internet connection

Yesterday, I couldn't connect to Web sites on my MacBook Pro using Safari (or Firefox or TOR), but I could ping them via Terminal. I could connect by logging in as a different user. Neither could I upgrade the OS with my user name. Eventually I was able to upgrade using the other user to 12.0.1. But the problem persists.
