Why does Siri not respond when I’m holding my phone and repeating ’Hey Siri’?

It appears that you've had a chance to review If "Hey Siri" isn't working on your iPhone or iPad, which was a good step to take. If you haven't done so already, it's a good idea to make sure you're running the latest iOS version on your iPhone: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you have a case or screen protector on your iPhone, remove them then test to see if Siri responds. Also make sure you're not connecting to any Bluetooth accessories.

Siri is just so unreliable. I have a few electrical items linked. 8/10 I just say to my phone “hey Siri, turn on the…” - fine. Then 2/10 Siri just won’t wake up to voice. When this happens, my phone Siri also stays asleep. It’s always been this way. Watch 6, newish phone, all updated. I just put it down to Siri being generally a bit hopeless.
