Install USB driver on Monterey

I've just upgraded to Monterey and found that all my USB drivers were uninstalled. Fine - for some I can reinstall, but for others we seem to be unable to do this as we get an error stating that a newer driver is required.

Is there a way around this? We are using some hardware that we are unable to get updated drivers for, and we use this hardware extensively across the company so it's vitally important to get this installed again.

Did you install special drivers or just what happened?

If you had special drivers installed it is very likely that you will need updated drivers for Monterey.

Some users have reported here that some external drives did not work after upgrading to Monterey. Also that USB ports on some dock did not work after upgrading to Monterey. I am trying to understand your problem

Yes, the device requires special drivers - it's actually a standard serial port, but the company uses non-standard VID/PID for the chip, so the standard driver doesn't work.

When I try and run the driver install it says that newer drivers are required for Monterey, but as these are not available, it means that we are currently unable to use our hardware. I'm trying to understand if there is a way to use the old drivers - eg is this just a security feature to get signed drivers, or is there really a technical issue and it's no longer possible to use this hardware?

For past masOS upgrades, sometimes the new drivers just require Apple to "bless" them for security purposes. However, sometimes a driver needs modifications to run on a upgraded macOS version. I do not know the inner workings of macOS Monterey.
