Mail searching only returns results from today

Have checked all Apple support documents for Monterey, ran the terminal rebuild (checked and it started and finished fairly quickly). mds and mds_stores is running (checked Activity Monitor). What's going on with Mail is I can search today's email, that's it. I can search just fine on my iPad, iPhone and Sarai browser going to iCloud.com. It's only on my iMac running Monterey that isn't working. Ran mdutil while writing and it ran for about 5 minutes. I have ~3T of data on multiple disks so it should have taken longer than this.

System preferences/Spotlight/Search Results, everything checked. Nothing checked in Privacy. I thought Mail search was working after I upgraded, maybe not, but I have tried using Hide my email. I don't know if that causes any issues. I also had Private Relay turned on but it's now off after seeing how it affect Mail.

I worked on Mac since 1989 and this is the first time spotlight searching of Mail hasn't worked. I'm on a late 2015 iMac 5K with Fusion drive, iTunes library on external disk. I also store some files on iCloud, including Mail, but like I said I can search Mail on iCloud.

Spotlight search is limited to local machine search or external drive if included.

See >System Preferences>Spotlight and verify you have checked boxes for mail and no privacy exclusions
