Macbook pro 2018 logic board failure

My 2018 i7 died yesterday. Sat on my desk most of the last two years on an aluminum rain design stand like an external heat sink. Likewise diagnosed at apple Genius Bar as logic board failure. I decided to ship it in knowing that with the Holiday and not wanting to be near the mall on Black Friday I didn’t have another option. Very disappointed to hear about so many repeat issues. What about the newer M1 chipsets? Is there good reliability data out on them? This has never happened to me before on any Mac since 1998 (iMac Bondi Blue, IBook (white) 2001, iMac (‘04), MacBook Pro (‘09 - and still works well on Mavericks with SSD), iMac (‘14) and iMac 27’ retina (late 2015 bought as refurb, and now running on external SSD because of HD failure this summer). I might be missing one in there and then all the iOS devices and I’ve had two major device failures this year. Other than battery life the original iPod still works. What is going on?

I am facing the same issue. It's only been 1.5 years since I bought it and the logic board have already failed for the second time (already replaced once under warranty last year). Apple told me it'd cost $997 (excluding taxes) to get it fixed. I'm almost certain now that this is a faulty device from the start.
