New Macbook Air won't connect to any network.

I just bought a brand new Macbook Air from the iStore. It is not connecting to the internet. All other devices on the same wifi network are fine. My new Air won't even connect to my iPhone hotspot, so it's the computer and not the router.

Having said that, I've restarted the router 3 times to no avail.

I've ran Wireless Diagnostics and the prompts it gives me are:

  1. Review Wifi best practices (which I have done)
  2. LAN Connectivity Failure - try restarting the router (which I have done)
  3. Self Assigned IP address - contact ISP for assistance (which doesn't seem to be the problem because the Macbook Air won't even connect to my hotspot).

What should I do? Can someone please help me solve this issue.

Thank you,

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

Hi gjm031,

We understand you're unable to connect your Mac to a Wi-Fi network. We see you were linked from the article "If your Mac doesn't connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi". We also see you were able to try many of the listed steps. Were you also able to try the other steps listed under the section "Learn more"? Which macOS are you currently using? We would also recommend reinstalling the macOS as shown in the following article and testing the issue again:
