Mac Pro 6,1 (2013) fan spinning at 100% and PPN001 and PFM006 diagnostic codes

I've started a game under Windows yesterday and after a few second fan started spinning at 100%. In just a few minutes screen went black. Post reboot fan is still working at 100% just a few second after booting the computer. This happens both under macOS Monterey 12.0.1 and Windows 8.1.

I can still control fan with MacFansControl. Resetting NVRAM/SMC didn't helped.

Apple diagnostic shows PPN001 and PFM006 diagnostic codes.

Where is SMC chip located in this machine? I suspect failure of bottom logic board.

All works fast under Windows, under macOS first D700 graphics cards works very slow. Second works fine.

Last time I took my ‘trash can’ for repair …

They tested the memory sets they were fine, then they replaced the system battery CMOS…

Apple ended up replacing both GPUs and that fixed everything…

Apparently, 1 or more sensors can go haywire and that needs to be taken care of by the Apple technicians…

It ended up one GPU repair as well as SMC repair. Cost about $639.

Here is the official apple list. PFM looks like an issue with the system Management Controller SMC. The other one is not mentioned.

I've removed one GPU (the one with SSD slot), then reinserted it. GPU2 die sensor reappeared. LuxMark shows both GPU's core clock 850 MHz (previously first GPU showed just 150 MHz). Fan is now working properly. Apple diagnostics shows no issues at all.
