Iphone 13 Pro choppy/jittery scrolling

It’s been talked about on toms hardware and multiple other sites. It’s a known issue with variable refresh rates. Suggesting somebody spend hours upon hours flattening their phones is not helpful and will solve nothing but time loss.

Apple needs to fix this via an iOS update or hardware replacement. My 13 Pro Max is a disappointing “upgrade” from my 12 Pro Max 🙄

This is because of the bad implementation apple did for variable refresh rate , it is dropping too low when scrolling slowly and it looks terrible. There should really be a minimum fps when scrolling. This is an apple iOS implementation issue specific to new iPhones.

Disabling auto brightness made no improvement for me. The choppy scrolling in many apps, many web pages in browsers, pdf readers, etc, makes this phone nearly unusable. I plan to take it to an Apple store for exchange.

I did find that Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Limit Frame Rate set to on corrected the choppiness substantially but did not completely eliminate but it’s now livable.

But it defeats the purpose of 120 Hz refresh rate on your shiny new iPhone 13, its most marketed feature 🤷‍♂️

I could not agree more, I 'upgraded' to a 13 Pro Max 1TB and regret it each moment I've used this phone from the day I got it on the 24th of September last year.

I'm not being pedantic here, but the aforementioned stated issues within this thread seriously ruin my user experience and cause me to feel utterly sick each time I use it. What I would give to go back to my 11 Pro Max 512GB..

This needs to be sorted out via firmware or hardware..

Two basic troubleshootings steps to perform:

A "forced" restart of your iPhone using these instructions:--> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support

If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS. To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

I also have this issue with some apps including the AppStore itself. Choppy screen. I called Apple they said to exchange it at an Apple Store. Drove for hours today to do this and the exact same thing happens on the new one. What a waste of time and over £1300!

Yeah, I am going to have to revise my comment from before. Disabling auto brightness was a very short lived work around. It’s doing it again regardless of auto brightness setting. This is incredibly disappointing and just not acceptable for the flagship device running latest stable iOS.

Disabling auto brightness (Settings/Accessibility) made my shaking go away. That’s not the way it should be, but a temporary fix at least.

Now they are saying exchange or get refund
