I haven't received emails since last night.

OS 10.12.6 on iMac. Logged in this morning to no new emails (usually have around 20). Sent test emails to myself, they all came through. Received two new ones in the last hour. How do I troubleshoot this?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

Login to your email service on their web site and if you can see emails which haven’t appeared on the Mac email app then try deleting that account in system preferences followed by adding it again and it should force a synchronisation.

I had that happen with gmail, it lost all my previous emails (it’s not my main account so wasn’t an issue). I recreated the account and it started receiving again. I suggest you contact your mail service provider. As I used a gmail address as a login for a couple of steaming sites I changed them to my main account ( a different provider) just to be on site safe side.
