How to see iPhone messages history on MacBook?

I just got the new MacBook Air M1. I've had an iPhone for a couple of years. I've been able to set up messages on my MacBook so that I can send and receive them synchronously across both devices, but I would like to download/sync all the messages on my iPhone to my MacBook. That is, I want to see the message history on my iPhone from before I got the MacBook in the messages app on MacBook. Is there a way to do that? I'm running iOS 15.0 and MacOS 11.5.1.

Hi there hbluemn,

We understand you'd like to have all of the messages from your iPhone history on your MacBook Air, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

When setting up iMessage on your new Mac, it is expected that only new messages going forward will be shown there.

If you'd like to sync all of your messages across devices, you can enable Messages in iCloud to do so. Learn more about this feature here: Use Messages in iCloud

Keep in mind, with Messages in iCloud enabled, any messages deleted on one device would be deleted on all of the devices with Messages in iCloud enabled.

We hope this helps.
