IPhone camera and Green Indicator light

all our IPhones on update 14 and above have a green indicator while in the camera. When we check on what app uses the camera it shows only the camera. Apple has indicated the green indicator is when an app is using the camera but does not state specifically when within the camera the indicator light will always be visible and green. Is the green indicator light normal to be on consistently within the camera app?

Hi C2_c,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

The way I understand it:

If the light is on, the camera/ microphone is on for use.

If the camera /microphone light is off ... camera / microphone is also turned off.

Seems the orange indicator light for microphone, and the green indicator light for camera,

turn on only when the microphone / camera is on for use by an app you have open for use..

Apps you have given permission (in settings) can access the camera and microphone.

You can turn settings / on / off.

Eg:

Change FaceTime video settings on iPhone

Change FaceTime audio settings on iPhone
