Mysterious TV download in Movies Folder

I was recently browsing for files to clear out on my laptops drive, and find

in Big Sur User > Home > Movies > TV > Media > Downloads-TV > movie title.tmp > download.movpkg

umm, I never downloaded an Apple TV media, and I cannot really find it anywhere in the Apple TV app

in order to purge it properly.

Any thoughts on how it got there ... I assume I could delete the file without much

side-effects since it's not really something that resides in my Library

But still would like to formally delete it correctly

...

p.s I cannot really figure out what Topic Heading this should be, so I am choosing Big Sur. I don't see a choice for Apple TV APP, only Apple TV hardware

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6

Hi John H54,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you found a file in your Home folder that you're unfamiliar with. This appears to be a downloaded TV show that was downloaded. You may have downloaded from any number of sources. You can search your file system for the TV title and check in your Downloads folder. Do you store movie content on a different drive or have a specific folder created for your media?

Feel free to add more details to this post.

Regards.

• On your last questions: I have made no modifications to content Library drive, or folder locations. So this is a default

location per the detail mentioned above in the Home folder.

• Next one up: Actually, by manual, or visual, search is how I found the file or media content file.pkg in the first place. So I know where the 4.28GB file is. Doing a Finder search of the title simply reveals the file.

• Further up the chain: This would indeed be an Apple-TV+ app content file, however I do not recall ever downloading it.

The only caveat here is that perhaps I accidentally clicked a download icon on, or in, the Watch Now page.

But no deliberately.

Now, the other part of the mystery is that this content does not display itself in Apple TV+ as a downloaded, ready to watch media ... that's rather the big part of the mystery ... Apple TV+ does not overtly prompt, or remind, or have in any navigable location, icon, or otherwise offer of the content, to view

That's all I have, detail-wise

What I am trying to accomplish is an understanding of why the file resides on my computer.

The TV show, whose name I have forgotten at the moment, was never ordered, never viewed, never heard of,

despite the fact that its file resides in the user's account Media folder as described above.

The content nowhere displays itself otherwise, For Example: in any purchase order, Library cue, what so ever.

One would think it would at least show up in the user account Library in some manner as a viewable item.

Hence the title of this post a (complete) Mystery

It is an orphaned file, with absolutely no provenance.
