The "beachball" is an indication that the Mac is busy trying to complete a task. There are many reasons why a Mac might beachball. Things like software conflicts, RAM limitations and hardware issues might cause it.

I recommend that you run an EtreCheck evaluation of your Mac. EtreCheck is a diagnostic app that gathers important info about your hardware and software and reports it back to you. It is very highly regarded and meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help others help you troubleshoot and resolve your Mac problems.

Please navigate to EtreCheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you’ve run the app and created your report please post it with your reply to this message.

You must upload the full report. To see how, please click >  How to use Add Text when posting… EtreCheck Report.

We can use the EtreCheck report to look for the more obvious things that may be causing your problem and advise how to correct them.

+1 on the knowledgeable reply. I would also recommend that you submit an EtreCheck report of your system so we can understand which Mac you have, how it is configured and even more importantly what has been installed on it. This information will help us analyze what may be causes to the spinning beach ball on your machine. As each Mac is different in the way it is being used and how it has been configured, there is no one cause as to why a Mac is experiencing the spinning beach ball. An EtreCheck report helps us dig into your problem more.
