"No network connection" - Mac OS Big Sur / Monterey M1 Unable to activate Office 365

MacOS Big Sur or Monterey M1 Air

Steps to reproduce :

1. Reboot MacOs

2. Check internet connection with any browser

3. Log in Office 365 website

4. Download the last version of office

5. Let the autoupdate confirm the version is up do date

3. Launch word or excel

Expected result : Prompt to login and activate the product

Result get :

"no network connection" error

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0

Solved.


In this case one must believe the error message. The application can't connect and is timing out. There seems ro be an issue with WIFI connections using some apps (including Safari) in Monterey / Big Sur and M1 devices. [Too much troubleshooting would not resolve].


But I solved the above problem by switching to Ethernet connection.

Suddenly Safari connects. Office connects. And sign in and activation for Office 365 works like a charm.
