macbook m1 hinge popping noise

Hello All,

I bought my MacBook 4 months ago, since day 1 I have been facing the hinge tightness and hinge popping noise when moving opening and closing the screen. Especially when keeping the screen opened (while working or sometime) and closing it back gives a very load hoping noise. It feels like the screen is stuck open and needed to put a lot of pressure to move from that position back. It get released with a popping noise each and every time with a popping vibration as well.

Apple service team commented that there is an issue but they need to check with the onsite apple technical team to initiate and top lid replacement.even after two escalation from the local apple service provider, Apple tech team ignored it and stated that there is no issue on the unit. And it won't affect the Mac's performance.

I spoke with apple customer team member, but seems like they can't help on this either and asking me to go and submit the Mac again. And they will check and let know again. (fyi- My Mac was already submitted for nearly 16 days in that same apple centre previously)

The Local auth apple service provider escalated twice even after that apple ignored to replace my lid. And asked me to use is and it go away after sometime.

Are there are KB article that Apple uses to get this issue fixed ?

Here are the current Apple service programs: https://support.apple.com/service-programs

These didn't come about very quickly. It's a matter of waiting on Apple's part to decide if enough complaints have been lodged for them to agree it's a widespread problem. I've seen nothing in the way of a service program for your problem, but I'm not all that up on this sort of thing.

I have tried contacting them and reaching out to them many times, but they are ignoring the fact that there is an issue in the unit.

Video link of the issue.

It goes popping on 0:09 sec when moving the screen with a lot of pressure. But Apple ignored this video proof and said there is no issue and use it as it is.

But the popping noise and the hinge's stiffness has increased drastically in the past week.

I doubt they're ignoring it; Apple Just doesn't work at your speed. If Apple gets enough complaints to cause them to make it a general use issue they will. But that takes time and Apple can't keep every person personally informed of their corporate decisions.

You're at Apple's mercy. That's basically what you agreed to when you agreed to their Terms and Conditions. Use your MacBook M1 and enjoy it. Either it will break or it won't. And if you use it a "lot" before the warranty expires, and it breaks, you get a free fix.
