Not receiving group text from ONE GROUP only

My oldest son and I can text directly, but when I send a message to both my kids as a group he does not receive it (from me or his brother). He receives messages from other groups that we are all in (like a family chat of 4 people) but not the chat between the 3 of us.

any ideas as to why or what to do about it?

I have deleted and reinputted my contact on his phone. Deleted and restarted the group message. Turned the phones on and off. Made sure Group Message is enabled (he can get all other group messages). Made sure nothing is blocked (we aren't blocked because we can text directly and in other groups).

The messages have a blue box.

Brother 2 can see the responses from me.

Brother 1 cannot see texts from me OR Brother 2….but only in this particular group chat. He sees responses from both of us with direct messages AND in other group texts.

Hi nmcotter! We have a few more things to check to see if we can get to the bottom of this.

- Is Do Not Disturb enabled on your son’s device if you go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb? If so, let’s disable this temporarily to see if this makes a difference.

- Is Content & Privacy Restrictions enabled when you go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions?

- When you created the group message, does the conversation appear in Messages for your son, and just not the texts from you and Brother 2?

- If your son’s device has an update available in Settings > General > Software Update, let’s update now to see if that makes a difference (after creating a backup): Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists after the update, let us know the answers to the previous questions, and we’ll continue.

Cheers!

Hello nmcotter! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that your son isn't reaching text messages from you when you're in a group message with him and his brother. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

When you're sending these messages, do they have blue text boxes or green? Group iMessages are handled a little differently than group SMS, which may not allow everyone else in the group to see the responses. Is his brother able to see the responses from you? The resource below may provide some additional help as well.

Send a group text message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If this is regarding SMS group texts, you may need to contact your wireless carriers and confirm that group SMS is enabled on your accounts.

Make it a great day!
