What is SoftRAID.kext, HighPointIOP.kext, and HighPointRR.kext?

Why are these in my extensions folder? Could they be doing my iMac harm? Is it safe if I deleted them somehow?

If your computer is experiencing KP's then the first thing to do is to see if it is software related. The easiest method of doing that is reviewing what has been installed. Please do the following and some of us will be happy to review the report and see if you have anything installed that is causing the issue.

Please navigate to www.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

For instructions on how to download your EtreCheck report and attach it to your reply to this message please click https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

Yes, absolutely. Operating ANY computer without backing up is a 100% guarantee you will lose data. Including photos, music, movies, important documents, apps, settings, etc....At a bare minimum you should be using Time Machine (built into Mac OS) as your backup app. Please refer to Back up your Mac with Time Machine all that is needed is an external HD such as a OWC Mercury Elite Pro.
