Using this adapter, I have tried restarting, unplugging, and re-powering up laptop and display to get a reliable connection. 90% of the time the display is black. Occasionally, not through any repeatable steps, the TB display appears and is useable... until the laptop sleeps. Then, on wake, the display is black and no matter what I do it does not reappear.

I have similar problem with M1 Max Macbook pro 16. When I plug in Apple Thunderbold display 27 via Thunderbold 3 to 2 adapter nothing happened. When l plug in to Macbook pro 15 2015 display runs fine. It some SW problem or I have to return Thunderbold 3 to 2?
I have seen a similar issue with a Samsung display, 16" MBP 2021. If I restart the computer, the display will power on correctly, but if I wake from sleep, the display never comes back. I am running HDMI to USBC via adapter (because it's one of 2 displays, the other is direct HDMI and works fine).
I was able to fix the issue by opening Display Settings and manually changing the Refresh Rate, then changing it back. But as soon as the computer sleeps, the display goes back to black.
Update on my original post: I went back to the Apple Store and exchanged the adapter for a new copy. It still does not work. Also tried changing the refresh rates using Displays system preferences, which had no effect.
I try it like you set here and after 30 minutes of restarting Thunderbold display and my MacBook Pro 2021 16 the display finally works, but I don't have time every morning to do this... I thing its some software issue... Apple please fix it. Also I am waiting for new Thunderbold display from you :D
Hi, I solved the problem ). I bought new thunderbold 2 cable and plug in to the Thunderbold Display and to the TB 2 - TB 3 adapter. Now everything works fine.
