Occasional distorted audio on Mac OS Monterey

Backstory: I switched from a 2019 16 inch intel MacBook Pro to a M1 MacBook Air recently (surprising I know). I used it on Mac OS Big Sur just for a couple of days, all was good.

Problem: Once switching to Mac OS Monterey I realised that when I went to play games at the end of a work day there was a sound distortion issue where it changes the pitch of the sound to sound deeper. I usually have my mac on mute while I work so I dont usually notice otherwise. The problem then carries over to everything too, moving files in finder have the same sound issue and then the browser too.

My suspicion: I am also uncertain on how it fixes itself, a restart definitely does it. Once it worked by restarting the bluetooth functionality. I suspect that it has to do with the bluetooth module as the default speakers do not have this issue but then I use bluetooth headphones almost exclusively so it is a big deal for me.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)
