Apple informed me that future releases of macOS Monterey will not be compatible with Parallels Software. Shall I go back to a previous OS?

I think you need to explain what you were told. If you mean Parallels Desktop, Windows 11 on M1 Macs, that has nothing to do with future releases of Monterey. Can you explain further?

Do you mean the software for running Windows on a Mac? Have you checked the Parallels Website, where, oddly, they boast that their software is "Optimized for Windows 10, 11 and macOS Monterey."?
I suspect they were talking about BootCamp, not Parallels.
Many thanks for your v helpful reply. The message popped up automatically during the upgrade to the OS Monterey. I dont know how to reproduce in order to get the exact wording
