Bluetooth Mic Solution in Bootcamp
Hi All,
Like many others I realized that bluetooth mics don't work in Bootcamp/Windows 10 but I believe I found a solution and wanted to share it because I've been frustrated by it for a while. I didn't want to try the external bluetooth adapters due to the posts I read about it potentially rendering the internal bluetooth module inoperable .
I'm running Monterey and all latest updates to Bootcamp and W10. Macbook Pro 2018 i9.
I got the idea from my bluetooth jabra headset and how the software/adapter isn't recognized as an actual bluetooth adapter. I found something called the Creative BT-W3, (https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Indicator-Selection/dp/B089PYFLBN/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=creative+5.0&qid=1636755120&sr=8-3)
Windows doesn't recognize it as a bluetooth adapter, but a sound controller similar to a wired headset. I'm able to use my Galaxy Buds headphones. I put the device into pairing mode, put my buds into pairing mode, and it automatically connected. I can listen to audio in the default mode perfectly but when you double press the button it switches to a HFP mode and the LED turns red and I'm able to do Teams and video/VOIP/Ringcentral calls and use the internal mic on the bluetooth headset. Looks like you can only pair one device to it but that's all I need. Screenshots included. Long term testing has been great but do this at your own risk of course. I haven't restarted the Macbook into OS X and left it plugged in yet or even used it in OS X because I use my Airpod Pro's when in OS X. Just wanted to help other people. Let me know if anyone has any questions.
