Beats fit pro - hiss/static sound in left earbud

There is a constant hissing/static noise in the left earbud of my Beats fit pro. It seems to be most prominent in noise cancellation mode, and less prominent in regular and transparency mode. There seems to be quite a lot of people on reddit that have the same issue. Many people have exchanged new ones and still had the issue persist. I wonder if Apple/Beats is aware of this, and if there is a solution yet.

Same. I’ve bought and returned 4 pairs now. My coworker has been through 3 pairs.

All 7 pairs have a buzzing in the left earpod.

Turning ANC off stops the buzzing.

Reset doesn’t correct it.

Paring with different IOS and android devices doesn’t correct it.

Isolating the environment to just a single paired device doesn’t correct it.

Unpaired they still buzz.

7 pairs purchased across 3 different Best Buys all had the issue.

4 pairs black, 2 pairs white, 1 pair purple.

Reports of this are prominent on Reddit and forums.

The buzz is loud enough to be highly distracting during quiet passages.

Just received mine and there is a very noticeable “rattling” or hissing predominantly in the left ear bud. Only in NC mode though. And it is way more the the normal white noise in NC I know from my AirPods Pro. There is a little hissing sound in the right bud as well. to


Super bummed. Will contact apple support before returning but it seems like there is still no fix yet. Found a few Reddit threads as well and this issue seems to have been around since their release.

I’ve had the same issue with multiple pairs and from reading other online discussions this seems to be common. The reset doesn’t work and when returning for a new pair the same issue persists. Is this something on apple/beats radar and are they working on a fix? Seems like a similar issue happened when the air pod pros were released: https://support.apple.com/airpods-pro-service-program-sound-issues

I can hear static/noise from the Beats Fit Pro’s when not playing, or during low music volumes, from both earbuds when ANC is enabled. When ANC is off, the noise disappears. My BFP’s will also occasionally produce a brief, low rumble with ANC active.

For comparison, my older Sony XM3’s have less noise (it’s lower pitched) and never had a rumble when ANC is enabled. I’m hoping Beats continues to refine the firmware.

I have not noticed a static hissing, but I'm noticing the noise cancelling microphone seems to go out on the left ear on occasion. If I cover the microphone on the front of the headphones, it seems to encourage the noise cancelling to kick back in. This isn't a problem on the right side. I suspect some software issue is messing with the left-earbud hardware.

So, I sent mine in to get checked out. they returned them saying they did not find anything wrong with them but the person who assisted me at the apple store wrote that this happened during music playback which was not what I had told him ug. While it does happen during music playback but it's harder to notice. You can definitely hear it when in transparency mode and noise canceling mode. So now I have to send them out again and hope the next technician actually checks them out. Also has anyone notice that the ear fit test fails with this issue? Well, it does not necessarily fail but you get the error "there is to much noise around you, please go to a quiet area and do the test again". I tried in a quiet area and still get this error.

Same here in my newly arrived Beats Fit Pro but both earbuds.


Under Transparency Mode, there is a very noticeable hiss sound in a quiet room, and in ANC, it is also audible in the same quiet settings. Only when I turn off all these systems that should increase quality (reduce noise when using ANC), there is complete silence.


Not what I expected from new earbuds at this price.

I bought it back in April 2022 and noticed the hiss/static in left earbud. It is very noticeable when you are sitting in a quite room with noise cancellation on. Returned for repair once and it was written that they had replaced the left earbud but same problem persisted though they claimed it passed their diagnostics test. Not sure if its hardward/ software issue. Hope Apple/Beats can fix this issue ASAP!
