Set key photo/ poster frame for videos in macOS Monterey Photos?

Apple seems to have tossed out the ability to set a poster frame for a video in the Photos app (macOS Monterey v12.01). Used to be able to click on the cogwheel in the video player control panel (Catalina), or right-click a frame in Edit mode (Big Sur). Those options have annoyingly disappeared, and would simply like to see something other than a blank black poster frame.

Thanks to anyone who knows the secret!

This tool has been moved to Edit mode.

  • Open the Video, click Edit.
  • in the filmstrip select the frame
  • now go to the “image” menu and click Set Title frame

And to save a still frame see: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250004312

You make a valid point. However, you can access the Copy command three ways: Choosing it from the Edit menu, keyboard shortcut, or right-clicking when appropriate. Removing it from the popup panel, then removing it from how it was done in Big Sur...again...doesn't make any sense. And, yes, not advertising what has changed makes less sense. Don't get me wrong, I have been a Apple champion since the 1989, but these constant upgrades, "new features," and changes accumulatively lead to frustration(s), resulting in taking up more and more time to manage. Again, thanks for your response and help!

That's true, but I like it very much, that we now can use all the photo editing adjustments tools for videos as for photos; that is saving us many round trips to iMovie. Given, that we are now having the same Edit dialog as for photos, it is making some sense to move all video editing options to the edit dialog as well. It would have helped to see them advertised in the "What is New" section of the Help, and not have as play Hide and Seek.
