USB connection stopped working after ios15.1

I have been using my phone connected to my car by cable for years, never a problem and charges while you drive. Currently running IPhone 11 Pro and happily listening to music via my phone, until 2 days ago, when iOS 15.1 appeared. Now, I connect the phone to the cable and it connects, charges but plays music out of the speakers on the phone. There are songs on the phone.

changed cables, no change. Cleaned the port, nothing in there. Tried my works iPhone which works fine and on iOS 15.1. Changed cable, no change. Reset all setting, no change. Turned off USB blocking under Face ID, no change. Looked to wind back the update and looks like there is no support for that either?

what am I missing?? I do a lot of driving and this has taken me hours to be no further on.

To be clear, this is not Apple car play, this is using usb cable. It is not the car, it’s plays music from another iPhone of a later model and also running the same software version, so that is not an issue.

the phone worked, now it does not. The cable connects and charges, it just will not play music through the cable. I cannot use a headphone Jack as it was removed…I cannot wind back an update… so I am now stuck trying to figure out what software glitch has stopped this from happening. It’s basic stuff really, play music through the 1 adapter I have, the lightning port.

Exactly as Duvetman my phone has stopped playing music through my car stereo with usb connection. Before ios 15.1 update it was perfect now it’s not . I have done everything suggested but nothing works . My phone charges and that’s it . I have connected my husbands phone , my two daughters phones all Apple they all work perfectly so they won’t do the 15.1 update after what it’s done to mine .

Absolutely no solution. Tried all settings, Apple just waffle on about CarPlay which is bugger all to do with this. Tried the settings reset which buggers up all your banking apps etc, it’s a flaming nightmare. Just use my works phone in which I refuse to update the latest software on. It’s just crap. As you can see, I’m not over this.
