NO, it did not. I am experiencing the same thing, warnings that my 2020 Macbook Pro could experience catastrophic failure while using software I commonly use for work, and only since I've updated to Monterey have I experienced extreme surges in Memory use. Right now, the only application I have open is the browser that was JUST opened after restart and I'm at 75% memory usage. When I changed my mouse back to normal size and color the increase contrast was still using up so much that I was at 95% CPU with NOTHING OPEN BUT FINDER.

Apparently, if you need accessibility features on, it will devour your memory. Because this is what I did - I wanted my cursor larger and a different color and I like to have increase contrast on. All online advice/recommendations suggest to just turn off accessibility features with your pointer! Geez, the solution is that you just need to deal with inaccessibility.

I have recently discovered it's not just the size and color feature on the pointer, it's also high contrast. This makes the mouse pointer so glaringly and intensely white, and Apple doesn't seem to want to make the reduced white point feature available on its Macbooks, thus the cursor glares like a searing light in the middle of the screen. So you also can't have increase contrast and possibly reduce transparency also needs to be turned off.

There isn't an update, so it seems like the issues have not been fixed. What are they doing? Ignoring this problem entirely? Apple has become more and more disappointing as the years go on. People complaining about their new OS for over a month and still no solution. At least make it possible to re-install old software temporarily! Please! This is terrible!!!!

Actually, it's the fact T_Raz is using accessability features while using Apps.

The Memory Leak issue is not constrained to a single app (unfortunately), to me it was Safari or Lightroom or XCode, depending on where I work.

Look at Sublime Text.. 35GB? Windowserver with around 1GB doesn't look healthy either in that screenshot btw. MS Word as well.. So everywhere where the cursor moves or contrast applies. Some even had issues after brightening their screens - should we stop adjusting that too now?

Seriously, I bought this machine >3,5k€ value, not to be looking over my shoulder every minute, worrying about memory. So imacperson2, nope, so far it is far from clear, whether Monterey will slow your workflow down ;-) I suggest waiting, also check out MacRumors, there is a lot of discussion around this.

No it’s not. With my brand new MBP 13 with 8GM RAM after reboot/ reset/ format - the OS itself consuming more than 55% of ram. I compared all available MBP at BestBuy and seems the OS consuming more than 4.5GB in all models irrespective of available RAM.

now if you run Adobe LrC or PS, in my case utilization going over 90%

I contacted Apple support and seems they don’t have a solution yet. Instead they asked me to go to Apple store to compare my laptop with theirs. This is horrible and not acceptable.
