Hi Selfring,
Are you referring to an SD card? That can be formatted (erased) in Disk Utility (located in Applications -> Utilities).
SIM cards are not the same as SD cards, and they cannot be used in Macs (as mentioned by BobTheFisherman and babowa).

My Mac has a sim card slot for reading and if need be for reformatting.
I never said my Mac had a sim card. My question was: How to format a sim card via my Mac which HAS a sim card slot.
