Touch ID not working

My brand new wireless keyboard has stopped accepting the Touch ID.

It is plugged in to the keyboard power cable. The Touch ID has been cleaned.

When I open Touch ID in preferences, it has "fingerprint 1" however I cannot edit the preferences to check boxes (they are shaded=hence unable to check them).

Not sure what else to do.

Hi there sturner113,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with Touch ID on your Mac, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

It looks like you've already reviewed If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac.

If so, and the issue persists, make sure your Mac is compatible with the section below:

"Check compatibility

To set up and use Touch ID on a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, you need a Mac computer with Apple silicon and macOS Big Sur 11.4 or later.

To use the built-in Touch ID on a Mac notebook computer with Touch ID, just set up Touch ID in System Preferences > Touch ID."

Also, make sure the Mac has the latest version of macOS Big Sur or later: Update macOS on Mac

Should the Touch ID issue persist, turn the Magic Keyboard off and back on again.

Cheers!
