My brand new MacBook Air was stolen yesterday and I need to shut it down and delete it

My MacBook Air was stolen yesterday and I need it shut down and erased. He uninstalled find my device or he just made a quick buck. Please help

Stolen Macbook Hi, I've just had my macbook pro stolen. It's quite an old machine and running El Capitan. I'm not quite sure what information I have on it but its logged into my icloud. I've read a few articles on what to do but have ended up feeling confused. I've locked the device using FindMy and have also read i should update my passwords. However, if I update my icloud password will it disable the FindMy, therefore cancel any request? The machine is switched off and probably extremely low on battery as given the age it doesn't last long without plugging it in. Could someone advise on what to do? many thanks

Stolen MacBook Air still showing under my devices. Does it mean it hasn't been reset yet? My Macbook was stolen and I was wondering as long as it’s still in your devices, does it mean they didn’t reset it yet? And what if they use your computer for selling the different parts, is there a way to find this out? I reported it to the police but I’m not sure if I should erase everything in case they can find it back so I don’t lose everything. It was last online yesterday morning so I haven’t lost all of my hope yet. 🤷🏽‍♀️ [Re-Titled by Moderator]
