Airpods Pro Sample Rate

Hi,

I'm struggling with my AirPods Pro. From what I've read, they're supposed to operate at 48kHz only, but mine defaulted to 44.1kHz, and can't be changed. I've done a hard reset, I've tried to force 48kHz by playing 48kHz audio through them on both my iPhone and MacBook Pro, but it just seems to do SRC in realtime.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Anyone? Everyone I know that has AirPods Pro, they run at 48kHz. Why are mine at 44.1?

Thanks for the reply, Branta. It wasn't exactly helpful, but I appreciate you taking the time to chime in.

For anyone else who might be able to offer some real insight here, I have asked a colleague to show the audio settings for their AirPods Pro 2, and theirs are operating at 48kHz as expected (see image below). So unless Apple is randomly assigning different clock speeds to their products, something appears to be wrong here.

I stand by my comment that the output sample rate is automatic, and almost certainly determined by the original encoding of the audio file which is the sound source. In other words you can't change sample rate during playback, you need to change it during recording.

(The only rational exception to this would be using software to resample to a lower rate, similar to resizing an image to lower resolution. You can go down but you can't add missing detail to go upward to better resolution than the original.)

Hi Branta,

As I said in the original post, I assumed there may be a possibility of them automatically changing sample rate depending upon source material, which is why I played 48kHz files through them. Alas, that was not the case.

So allow me to further explain. I REQUIRE the AirPods Pro to behave in the manner which they were intended to work, which by all accounts is at a fixed sample rate of 48kHz. Do you have any suggestions on how to get these to change that perhaps I haven't already tried and mentioned in the original post?
