crash on sleep

Is your Mac (Monterey) crashing after going to sleep? This problem was driving me crazy. I called Apple support and tried all of the recommended testing on the hardware and software and got nowhere.

Then I accidentally discovered that my Mac did NOT crash on sleep if the Chrome app was not running at the time my computer went to sleep. (Yes, I was still using Chrome sometimes, mostly because, initially, YouTube TV would not run on Safari. Now it does.)

At first, I couldn't believe that the Chrome app was causing the problem, but I've been testing it for several days, and as long as Chrome is not running when my Mac goes to sleep, everything works as expected. No crash.

Just some food for thought:

You might want to reconsider using Chrome as your browser after reading these:

I know some of the articles are old but Google hasn't changed its business plan.
