Questionable charge

I received an App-Store Purchase Confirmation via email for Order ER255627366 $29.99 on 11/15/21. I never intentionally ordered this and can't find any record of ordering on my account. How do I cancel or contest it?

If it is an email are you sure it is from Apple? It could be, or it could be phishing. Did you look at your purchase history? were you really charged for something?

Scams (e-mail, text messages, and phone calls) are getting very good at closely imitating true Apple communications. Always be cautious. Here are some guidelines:

Identifying legitimate emails from the iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/HT201679

Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - https://support.apple.com/HT204759

Apple 'How to identify, avoid, and report phishing' video--> https://youtu.be/SR3Z3fXXjfw

If you are uncertain about a message and a resource provided in that message, do not click on any links in the message. Try to independently verify the resource by going to a support page on apple.com and use that to contact Apple or to use the service the message is telling you to use.

Forward email attempts as an attachment (in MacOS Mail use the paperclip icon) to: reportphishing@apple.com then delete it.

Once you determine that it is likely real, you use the methods I indicated earlier to try and tranck them down. If you look carefully, one of the links I provide is to a document telling you how to request a refund.

The support article "If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement" explains how you can check your iTunes and App Stores purchase history, cancel subscriptions, and track possible sources of unrecognized Apple charges you may see on a bill. These may be purchases by family members if you are an organizer of a Family Sharing group, or possibly a second Apple ID you use. The article also provides a specific link for contacting Apple if you cannot trace the source of charges. Click on this link to read this article ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT201382 If you use Apple Card you may find this document helpful too: 'If you see an Apple Services charge you don't recognize on your Apple Card' ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT210618

Other possibilities to consider (not all may apply in your situation):

- Unanticipated amounts may be grouped charges ( https://support.apple.com/HT201359 ).

- Purchases can be made with your ID if your Apple ID is compromised (what to do ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT204145 ) or somebody else has access to your device (require purchase password ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT204030 ).

- If you only see a charge in emails or texts that are not official Apple receipts, it is likely phishing attempts ( https://support.apple.com/HT204759 ).

- If you are absolutely certain neither you, nor Apple, nor a Family Sharing member can account for a charge and it ONLY appears on a bill for a charge card you alone control, you may have been the victim of card fraud. Contact your financial institution.

- Small amounts of ~$1 may be an authorization hold that will be refunded (pending charge ➞ https://support.apple.com/HT201292 ).

As I said earlier, today I received an email from Apple that my account has been charged $29.99 for order ID ER255627366. I did not order this film. I have checked my apple account, my wife's apple account, and my credit card of record and see no reference to this order number or an amount of$29.99 charged to my account by Apple. How do I cancel this since I didn't order it and don't use Apple TV services?

Thank you,

Dan Miller
