How do I disable split screen on IOS 15 on iPad?

I hate the new split screen feature and not being able to disable. I am constantly on the phone with my 85 year old mom trying to get her out of split screen. You have done a disservice not thinking of older people using iPads. Please make this feature able to disable. Very annoying

Why does Apple think this is a functional feature????
No one here in this user-to-user forum could give you a definitive answer to that. At a guess, I'd say testing probably indicated more people liked it than didn't but, who knows.
You should let Apple know your thoughts on the matter here:
You clearly haven't read the thread you've posted to. Had you read the thread, you'd know you're not speaking with anyone from Apple. This is a user to user only forum. None of us made anything. And split screen isn't an App, it's part of iPadOS, which no one here can turn off.
You'd also see multiple times a feedback link has been posted, which if you want to share your thoughts with anyone at Apple, you can use. But here it is again, for you --> Feedback - iPad - Apple

Please disable the ios 15 split screen on my iPad . Apple didn’t give me a option to do so. Also why does apple refuse to give instruction books with your purchases that are expensive . I guess your only interested in taking seniors money.
For information, The iPad User Guide is a rich source of frequently overlooked information about your iPad and iPadOS. The Guide is readily available both online using a web browser (such as Safari), or as an Apple Books download:
iPad User Guide - Apple Support
https://books.apple.com/book/id1567104892
The Tips App, installed by default on all new models of iPad, provides a brief introduction - and leads you to the User Guide. In case you missed it, here is a link to the Tips App:
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/tips/id1069509450
Apple also has a huge YouTube Channel - containing videos and feature guidance:
WCGA 2.2 is a set of guidelines for website development. The iPadOS is not a website.
And, even if it were some sort of law or regulation which applied to iPadOs, no one reading here could do anything about it.
You can let Apple know your thoughts here:
I can't do anything. I don't work for Apple. It was never "Taken Away" because it was never an option to remove it. I understand you don't like it, but I don't work for Apple, and neither does anyone else on this forum. Your only option is to send feedback to Apple at apple.com/feedback . There is nothing I, or anyone else here, can do for you.
Actually, per the internet, there was an option to disable it previously.
And I understand your frustration with being bombarded, but this is clearly an issue and common searches or issues with it route here, not to the feedback site. Be mad at Apple, not the people expressing the frustration.
Hello ~ No one here is frustrated as we are volunteers that help here because we want to. Apple does not ask our opinion either but this is a technical forum and not a chat so we just point out the facts. The best way to express your frustration is here:

Per the internet, huh?
You almost make it sound logical.

No, they do not. This is supposed to be a forum for technical support, not a complaint center. It is not an issue. It's you not liking it.

I completely agree.
Problem is, in many apps there is a button UNDER your split screen pop up button. It's almost impossible to hit it w/o triggering the splits-creen mode. Give the user the option of moving the button or removing it completely. Hate to say it but Apple doesn't know best for it's users. The users do. Please fix this.
I simply do not know how to tell you how infuriating it makes me how this split screen is suddenly forced upon me when I am trying to write back to sort out a problem with an order from a company beginning with A and ending with n. Get rid please.
Whether or not Apple should have done this is an opinion based question, so there's no point in guessing. The only thing you, me or anyone else can do is to give them feedback.

I plan to buy a Galaxy tablet and stop using my iPad (and not buy additional Apple products) until this is fixed.
You should always buy the tool that best meets your needs. No one here can predict when or for that matter, if Apple will change this. What we can predict is that, should they change it, there will be a cohort of people who are angry about it.
Hello ~ As with many things you will find what may be useful to some is not to others. In fact I am using it at the moment. This is a forum for technical issues not necessarily feedback as Apple doesn’t participate here in that way. The fact is it’s on the iPad at present and is likely to be in the future.

I have the same exact problem with my 85 year old mother. At least 3 times a week she splits the screen accidentally, and I have to fix it for her - can’t even walk her through it over the phone. I practiced with her one on one for 30 minutes on multiple occasions, but the movements are so subtle it’s difficult for her. PLEASE Apple, give us ability to disable this feature.
