Unlike iPadOS14 and earlier versions, multi-tasking and associated views cannot now be disabled from settings. Multi-tasking has received a significant overhaul, both simplifying its use and introducing new controls.
Key to accessing and controlling multi-tasking is the small “three-dot” button that is found at the top-centre edge of the screen.
More information about using multi-tasking can be found in this support page:

The iPad User Guide is also a rich source of information about using iPad and its many features. The Guide is available both online using a web browser (such as Safari), or as an Apple Books download:

Hello again ~ What exactly is it that you would like for us to do about this actually? We have kindly and technically explained to you that we are fellow forum users that volunteer our time to help with issues or problems with Apple devices. We cannot however make any changes to the device design or it’s operating systems. We have repeatedly and graciously pointed you in the right direction to voice your concerns to Apple. I am using the split screen right now in fact with no issues whatsoever and will be one to complain if and or when the feature is removed. I would encourage you once more to learn to use the feature until or even if it is changed:

So why is the title of the forum”Apple Support Communities” ?
Read the Terms of Use you agreed to when you joined the forum. It is a forum HOSTED by Apple for users to help other users. Apple doesn't participate here. Apple doesn't read these posts for suggestions. And you would know this if you read the TOU when you signed up.
Come on people! Please understand that the kind folks on here who try to answer our questions are simply users just like you and me. They are trying to help us figure out stuff and how to use our devices. They are not Apple employees and have no more authority to change the way Apple designs the operating systems than I do. Frankly, I don't have any much reason to use the split screen myself and wish it could be turned off. The first time it happened to me, I had no idea what to do. The folks here gave me the information I needed to understand and how to get back to the single screen. I had seen the three dots at the top of the screen but did not know what they did. The people here helped me and I thank them for that.

While I absolutely agree with everything you said, I'm not sure why it was addressed to me.

Sorry, I meant that just to be a general comment to others not a specific reply to your posts. I think I hit the wrong button!
It happens! Just wanted to be sure that I hadn't said something that made you think I thought something else.
There's really no way to make a general reply. I think many of us reply to the OP to do that. But, of course, that can be confusing as well.

its the forum, it mixes up replies
In the almost 20 years I've been participating here, I've rarely seen that. Generally, it's a mistake or misunderstanding on the part of the user. Most of us have done it at one point or another.

Indeed. I have on several occasions replied to the wrong user, but never to my knowledge because the forum mixed it up. I just tapped Reply to the wrong user.

Of course, things get confusing when posts are deleted.....
But not everyone wants multitasking, specially when it drives IPad users insane whenever their apps have buttons in the exact same place. Please just add the feature to deactivate it back, because it’s straight up annoying for a lot of people, and anything but an improvement
@arniefromcochrane Haha, I ended up on this thread searching how to disable it for my 76 year old mom who is losing her mind because the stupid split screen keeps happening while she's trying to write emails. It's driving her insane. She's so mad about her iPad now because every time iOS updates, something major like this changes and screws up her workflows. (don't get her started on Safari location bar going to the bottom of the screen)

This not being an issue for iPad - as the feature, which can be disabled, is only present in iOS for iPhone.
I have the same problem. I use the Apple Pencil to input text. The the fact that the search bar and multitasking buttons occupy the same space makes safari unusable for me. I tried to provide feedback, but this appears to be a dead link. Is there any other mechanism for me to communicate this suggestion to Apple? Thanks!
I absolutely hate this feature. The little split screen controller interferes with being able to select individual albums in Photos when choosing photos in apps like Signal. We should be able to move or delete the controller. Really annoying.

Have you told Apple how you feel?
It is odd, because Apple knows 1. this method does not ensure that and 2. there are methods that do ensure that better and less intrusive. I mean, do you or Apple actually think there are bots trying spam their feedback to convince Apple to allow us to disable multitasking? If even if there are, why does it matter? They don’t respond to feedback anyway.
