disenter error 49153

I am running macOS 12.0.1 on iMac. After attempting to restore some data from a Time Machine backup, my external HD (WD My Passport) disappeared from my desktop and will not mount. That drive was my backup for 15K+ photos and all my music.

I have restarted my iMac and unplugged and replugged the external HD to no avail.

Disk Utility says the My Passport drive is "Not Mounted".

When I use Disk Utility to attempt to remount, I get this error message: Could not mount “My Passport”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49153.)

How can I remount that external HD? Thanks for any responses!
