Your MacBook Air has 2 USB-C ports. You can use one of the ports for the output to your monitor and you can use the other to charge your MacBook Air.

If your monitor supports a direct USB-C to USB-C connection, it may be able to charge your Mac. Otherwise, you could use the other USB-C port on your Mac to charge it, or use a special adapter that can connect both your monitor and power.
