Deliver-It delivery issue

I recently ordered a new MacBook and have been waiting a month for it to be delivered. It was finally out for delivery but Apple is using a new courier service called 'Deliver-It' and they did not update me when it was going to be out for shipment so I missed the delivery. I ended up being on hold with them for an hour to no avail, was not able to speak to anyone and all the phone numbers on their website went to the same number/call service. I missed another delivery because they again did not notify me they were delivering it and I again tried to call but again failed to speak to anyone. I lodged a complaint with Apple and let them know, only for the company Deliver It to "attempt to deliver my package" the same day and say I was not there to pick it up when I was home and refreshing my order status page, not seeing any updates. They did not knock or call me, instead said I was not home and now are in possession of my computer. Apparently, after 3 attempts, it's returned to Apple. Has anyone had a similar problem with this courier? I am shocked that Apple uses them as I have had nothing but stellar experiences with product shipments from Apple before. I am at a loss for what to do since I really do not want it to be returned as I have waited so long. Any help or advice appreciated.

I would not expect Apple to get you in direct contact with your local courier...


Call the courier again, leave a message, send an email, make arrangements if possible or find your local courier's office and walk in there to pickup your package (?)
