Disabled apple account

I’ve tried to change my payment method on my apple account but it won’t let me

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

Since you have not indicated a reason why your ID has been disabled, Apple has Recommended in the similar Topics listed below that you must contact them as provided in this document: https://support.apple.com/HT208856

Apparently (as indicated in Topic 2) contacting them is the Recommended solution even if there are possible self-help solutions provided by other documents such as "If your Apple ID is locked or disabled" --> https://support.apple.com/HT204106 (which ironically also contains a link to the first solution in a list of scenarios, so go figure :-/ ).
