iCloud Drive "Cannot open database"

I'm trying to use iCloud Drive on my Windows 10 (21H1) PC, but I'm getting this error: "Cannot open database. Please restart Windows".

Obviously I've tried restarting the PC, but nothing happens.

I've also tried uninstalling and installing again, both the Microsoft Store verion of iCloud and the standalone version for Windows7+. Same results.

I haven't found anything similar on the community. The closer one is this, but didn't fix the issue though...

The stranger part is that I can see the iCloud menu, but "iCloud Drive" folder on Windows is not updating anything.

I've also tried my account on other Windows PCs (both W10 and W11) and it works fine in there.

What else can I do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi SnickZ. and thanks for answering.

I'm currently running the latest version of Windows10 on this laptop as well as the 13.0 version of iCloud (latest one currently on Microsoft Store).

"In the past" iCloud was in use, but at some point I discovered that the files were not getting updloded to the cloud... And that's when I tried to upload for the first time, and I started receiving that error message.

Yesterday I tried once again to uninstall and install again, but this time I also enabled iCloud Photos (just for testing purposes) and the Photos are properly working, but I still receive the same error message on iCloud Drive and no file is getting downloaded/uploaded...

So sadly, that article didn't help me too much. But thanks anyway for sharing!
