Downloads folder is missing and now an alias

Help ! I have a lovely new laptop. However I have a big problem since migrating all my data over. My ‘download’ folder has disappeared! If I click on it says ‘The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “Downloads” cant be found.’. It is now showing the Downloads file as an ‘Alias”. 

I don’t think I did anything wrong to delete it. I connected my old laptop (screen is completed unusable) to a screen so that I could attempt to use it then use the Migration Assistant to transfer all the data across. 

I have no idea how to fix this and I have been googling it for a while. 

Any idea how to fix it?
