Logic can't find Apple Loops

I have Logic Pro X vers. 10.7.1.

I have downloaded Apple Loops in its entirety (all 63+GB of them). Logic put them on my XHD because I'm sure I told it to do so.

However, Logic doesn't see the loops at all.

I can go to my XHD and see them, and I can even click on the play arrow in the icon and "hear" them. So I know I have successfully downloaded them.

When I go to the loop browser in Logic, I am met with greyed out options and nothing in the list.

Several people have told me that Logic looks for Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple, and there are several folders in there that contain my downloaded samples. I don't know how they got there, because I told Logic to put it on my hard drive, but there they are (maybe upon downloading a 2nd time it just put them where it thought they should go). And still nothing appears in the Loop Browser window.

Reindexing does nothing at all.

How do I get Logic to "see" the loops and samples and all of the stuff I downloaded? At this point I don't care where they are, I just want it to work properly, and then I can decide where I want to put them.

I have now done this, however Logic still doesn't see the Apple Loops.

Does Logic have full access to your disk? Check it by instruction from Apple Support, and try again:

Firstly, you should be login as administrator. Then you need Give Logic Pro access to your external drive:

  1. Quit Logic Pro.
  2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Security and Privacy, then click Privacy.
  3. Click the lock button  to make changes.
  4. In the left column, click Full Disk Access, then select the checkbox next to Logic Pro in the application window on the right.

Don't rename the external drive after you've moved your library. If you do, Logic Pro and MainStage won't be able to find the Sound Library.

If I understand you right, your apple loops are downloaded on your external disk now. Try to create a shortcut of the main folder, which was created by logic on your HD, and put this shortcut to path, where Logic is looking for these loops. If direction, which you wrote, is right, and you will move there shortcut of the created folder without renaming - logic will see the loops. If the folder on your external disk looks like "Apple Loops - Apple - ..." then shortcut of "Apple Loops" folder must be in the direction "Library - Audio -", for example.
