M1 Pro and M1 Max are 5 times slower in FCPX than old i9 MacBook Pro 2019

He everyone,

I don't know what is going on but I've tested two M1 laptops (pro with 16Gb of RAM and max with 32Gb RAM) and found out that they're rendering the same project in FCPX 5 times slower than my old i9 MacBook Pro with 64Gb RAM.

What could be the issue?

MacOs is 12.0.1

FCPX is 10.6.1

Storage is 745Gb left out of 1Tb

FCPX runs in ARM

No plugins used for the project (it's basically two mp4 files without editing)

Codec is h264

The project finished rendering on my i9 when M1 Max and M1 Pro both were at 22%

this is crazy..

This is completely unexpected, and the opposite of all the reviews that I've seen. I don't have an Apple Silicon Mac to test.

There could be a software conflict.

Can you run Etrecheck on one of these machines and post the report here, using the "additional text" button?

Were the two mp4 files fps the same?

Does the fps in those two files match the project properties?

From what was described:

Two mp4 files, no edits (which means no B-rolls, titles, transitions, etc.)

Have you tried turning off background rendering and deleted all renders?

Where are the files stored (Monterey 12.0.1 has been reported to be flaky or slow on some external devices)?
