iPhone Health app wildly overestimating distance

Hello,

My iPhone's Health app is wildly overestimating the distance I walk. It seems to think that less than 3000 steps is 15 kilometres. Location services is on. Is there any way to reset the distance, or is this function now permanently broken?

Thanks.

Hello Breavman99,

Thanks for reaching out through the Apple Support Communities about the step count being reported by your iPhone.

Was your step count being reported as expected previously? If so, how long has this been happening?

Has this occurred with walks in multiple locations?

Do you use an Apple Watch with your iPhone?

Also, is your iPhone all up to date? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hopefully those details will help to isolate this behavior further.

Take care.

Hello,

The problem seems to have resolved itself; the distance is being recorded accurately as of yesterday. It's the distance, rather than the step count, that was the problem. I tend to walk in the same places--in my neighbourhood. I do not use an Apple Watch, and I cannot update to iOS 13 because the phone is too old (a 5s).

Thanks,

Ken
