What USB connection is Apple referring to for me to listen to lossless audio via CarPlay?

The stereo in your car may support a wired (USB) connection for Carplay or a Wireless Carplay option (no cable required).

What the article likely means is the Lossless audio is supported using the wired USB connection and not through Wireless Carplay.
