"A Problem Repeatedly Occurred With..." - Safari Keeps Reloading

Hello everyone,

I'm using MacBook pro mid 2012 with Catalina as last update. After recent update, some websites stopped working on Safari and pages keep reloading until they finally stop and gives the message "a problem repeatedly occurred". The bigger problem is that the more I use it over time, the bigger the problem it becomes. It spreads to other websites over time and more and more websites stop working!

I tried to work on chrome but same problem happens although the same websites used to open normally on both of them and the laptop worked perfectly!!

I searched on the internet and tried turning the Java on and off, and erasing the history and websites data with no use!

Any help please??

All my work is done on internet and can't work efficiently anymore!!

Hi,

Yup, if you search the discussions this has been a recurring problem over the last few weeks. As well as Safari the problem was also present on Firefox but not Chrome. The only way I have reliably got round this is to reinstall Catalina (10.15.7) and then disable automatic updates because in my case it seems to be either the MacOs Catalina Security Update 2021-007 or the associated Device Update that causes the problem.

To all other people with this problem do report it to Apple via https://www.apple.com/feedback/safari.html as Apple developers may not pick these forum comments up.

Apple Support did try to tell me to get a newer Mac until I pointed out that this is obviously a software problem. Apple support still tried to say that Catalina was not supported on older hardware until I pointed them at this page https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210222.

Apparently, Chrome works fine as does Brave. I just hope Apple gets this fixed soon!

Good luck!
