Movies purchased through apple not playing from Apple TV Library

When I open the Apple TV app on my 2016 MacBook Pro with OS Monterey installed, I cannot play any of the movies or tv shows in my library tab that were purchased through the apple store. When I select them it opens the play window but it remains black with the controls visible at the bottom but never starts the movie.


If I start the movie or tv show on my phone then stop it and go to the "Watch Now" tab on my MacBook Pro, it will show the movie and play it fine. But if I go to the Library tab and try to play the same exact movie, it just shows the black screen and never starts the movie or show.


It's not my internet, and I've logged out of and back into all my accounts and just installed the new OS today. I also went into the advanced settings and cleared all of those options as well based on what was proposed on another topic thread.


Any other ideas?

Thanks so much for letting us know more about what you're experiencing. We'd like to check into this further.


Just to confirm, do any specific errors or messages appear when you attempt to play movies in the Apple TV app currently? If so, what does the exact error say?


Does the issue also happen in safe mode? How to use safe mode on your Mac That can help us narrow this down more.

Those are all the things I did prior to asking for assistance. Please see my original question for details on the issue that I’m experiencing that do not include poor video, Wi-Fi connection, updating to the latest OS or signing into my accounts. This seems to be a technical issue with the software identifying the movies in my apple library and playing them.


Also, new development is that I can play any of the extras for each movie but the movie itself will not start.
