If i have some air pods and lose my case, can I order from amazon and how do I set it up?
I have air pods that were given to me because my son upgraded. But I need to get a charging case. Im sure there are other steps. What are they?

It is not that simple. All the serial numbers of both AirPods and the case must match for proper operation. See the 'Replace a missing AirPod or case' section in:

Get the serial number and then contact Apple Support for a replacement. Then learn how to set up your replacement.
Also make sure your son removed the AirPods from his account or you won't be able to use them. Your son should make sure he "forgot" the AirPods in his iPhone's Bluetooth settings.
