Up and Down Arrow Keys Not Working on MacBook Pro M1 Max

Open keyboard viewer (Open System Preferences>Keyboard>Input sources and click on show input in menu bar, then click on the keyboard icon in menu bar and select show keyboard viewer. )

Press on the arrow keys and side if the virtual keyboard shows those keys being depressed.

I am using Monterey 12.1and find that command + up / down arrow key doesn't take me to top or bottom of page as in previous MacOS.

I'd be grateful for clarification around your answer.

Same here - arrow keys do nothing within iMessage. Although I found if you hold the function key you can at least scroll through the message itself from that person (up and down through the thread). It's not a big deal but so frustrating.

Same question here. I only see a US flag appear in the menu bar. Nothing else happens.

My Up Arrow key does not work. Every other key does.

Im guessing I have a bad key?

its still not working, but when i press it it shows in Keyboard icon is working, kindly help, cause im having a hardtime

I am in the same predicament as above. I have even tried turning on sticky keys too....please help!!!

I saw that your problem was solved but I wanted to say how you would get to that menu in case you want to go in the future.

So on input sources at the bottom left you should see a[+ | -] thing and to the right of that there should be a check box that says "Show input menu in menu bar". After you click on that there should be an icon that appears on your top bar area section that has 3 lines and the command symbol. When you click on that click "show keyboard viewer" and that's how you go there.

I created a new user and the up/down arrow keys work correctly for the new user, but when switching back to previous user, they do not.

Do I have a corrupt user? I'm new to the MAC OS.

Okay, I did all this, and they lit up on the virtual keyboard, but I still can't scroll using them...What do I do next, after this process?

TGo to System preferences>Users and Groups and create a new user. Switch to that user and see if keys work. If same problem then, based on the entire info in thus discussion I conclude you have a keyboard problem.

Arrow keys are not working and "Keyboard > Input Sources" does not display correct keyboard. I am running Monterey v. 12.2.1 on iMac 24 inch M1 2021(only because my old faithful died) and have a QWERTY keyboard with number pad but displayed keyboard is without number pad, arrow keys, page up/down/home /end/ right delete/Fn and F13-F19 keys

I was running Monterey 12.1. I am now running Monterey 12.2. Problem solved !
