Unable to access Smart Albums in Sys Prefs Desktop

Both before Monterey for months and now with Monterey, the scroll-down listing of available albums omits all Smart Albums. The smart albums exist in the photos app and can be viewed there. They do appear in Screen Saver. At the current time, S.S. doesn't work for any type of Photos albums - black screen since Monterey.

Any thoughts?

Hi

It's a known bug.

Nothing to do to fix it until apple decides to fix it. In the meantime the only workaround is to export images you want in your screensaver to a folder somewhere outside of photos, and access them from that.

Yes. Although I should say: The black screeen is the known bug. I'm not sure if the lack of smart albums is a bug, or by design

Since smart albums are filled dynamically by the photos app when you view them, they may not be available from outisde the photos app - eg from the screensaver browser. For example, the smart albums are not available on an iPhone - even when the libraries have been synced via iCloud.
