Excessive battery drain, slow charge Series 7 watch

I'm experiencing significant battery drain on my brand new (2 days old) series 7 watch. Ironically I purchased this watch due to excessive battery drain from my series 4; I assumed that the age of the watch was partly to blame. The Series 7 battery drain is far worse: 100% at 6 am to 10% at 8 am!

I have a similar watch face on both the series 4 and series 7; today I took a walk using the Fitness app on the Series 7 watch. This is the same morning routine I had wearing the series 4.

The Series 7 has been on the charger for almost 2 hours and is only at 50% charged.

To understand Apple Watch performance and its relation to your battery, see:

Apple Watch Battery and Performance - Apple Support

“Battery life” is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. “Battery lifespan” is the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced. Maximize both and you’ll get the most out of your Apple devices, no matter which ones you own. See the "Tips for Apple Watch" section in:

If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.

I am also having battery issues with my (second) brand new series 7 stainless steel 45mm.. I returned the first one because I thought it was defective. Second one, just got it yesterday, is doing the EXACT same thing.. Everything is up to date software wise. I've factory restored my phone and watch several times, no backups for each device. I'm so sick of troubleshooting this thing. I too am coming from a series 4. Sometimes I feel like the S4 had somewhat better battery life (at times). I have to recharge my S7 2-3 times a day just to get from when I wake up to when I go to bed. Apple support is no help either, because all they do is run a remote diagnostics. All that tells them is my battery's max capacity is at 100% and everything should be fine... but it is NOT FINE AT ALL... so I returned the first one, got the second one.. Same exact problem. I would really like to enjoy this thing instead of troubleshooting it ever second of the day.
