iPhone 13 Pro doesn't easily detach from MagSafe Charger when lifting phone

I just purchased the MagSafe Charger for my iPhone 13 Pro, and I've noticed that unlike other MagSafe magnets in the past (older MagSafe chargers on MacBooks), they don't snap off easily when lifting the phone off the puck. I have to use two hands to detach the two.

Are other people seeing this? Seems like a magnet this strong defeats the purpose of having a wireless charger (doesn't seem any more convenient than just plugging in a Lightning cable).

You could say the same thing about the original MagSafe power adapter for MacBooks. The magnet was strong enough to ensure proper contact and a good hold on the MacBook chassis, but not so strong that it could serve its primary purpose – to snap off if someone trips over the cable.

For wireless chargers, the point is to allow easy docking and undocking. Most Qi chargers from Belkin, Mophie, etc allow for this convenience. The MagSafe charger for iPhone overdoes it (strong enough for proper contact, way too strong for easy undocking).

The MagSafe charger saved my brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max from damage last week when I grabbed it without realizing it was charging.

The iPhone detached like it was intended and MagSafe saved me from a damaged charging port.

The magnet is designed to firmly secure the iPhone in place for a more secure charge.

If you don’t desire that level of protection, then simply purchase a generic Qi charger.

When you lift your iPhone 13 Pro Max from your MagSafe charger, do you use one hand? I'm curious if people are making a habit of yanking the charger day in and day out, or using both hands (which basically removes any convenience over plugging a Lightning cable).

Good to hear it protects from the occasional accidental grabbing you described.
